[But he's not really sure if there's going to be a chance to send them later. Still, his voice isn't wavering.]
They don't seem all that useful, here. Figured you might want em anyway.
[The full contents of three books are sent over as attachments: The first is titled "Starting a Small Business", the second "The Art of Organizing Your Life", and the third appears to be a self help book about marriage.
[Flynn looks a little distracted and worn out when he replies but he still smiles at Junpei before looking through the files because a) books and b) books.]
Oh hey, thanks! It's been a while since I could update the library. And who knows, people might still be interested. Our choices are so limited here, at least it's something to pass the time?
I know, right? People keep asking me what's the first thing I want to do when we get out of here. I think I'll just spend all day at the botanic garden, look at all those shades of green and the flowers?
Because wow, getting so sick of the snow, you know what I mean? Hey, uh, you're okay right, how have you been? [Yeah, let's just sneak that whole feeling thing into the botany talk there.]
I'm fine. Just got kinda tired of carrying those books around, you know? So the sooner I sent em to you, the sooner I could ditch them for somebody else to grab.
Yeah, I know. I wish I could carry more physical copies with me... [They remind him of home. They make him feel better. He'd probably haul a cart with everything from the e-library if he could.]
Snow aside, well... I'm tired? Uh, starving, that is also really, that's kind of getting to me lately. Worried about what happened to people at the pit. One of my travel companions has these really red eyes now and-- I just hope nothing bad will happen to him. Which in this city is kind of like hoping for the snow to melt, I guess.
You know nothing's stopping us from keeping track of what buildings had books left in them, right? ... Or maybe I'm still too new here to get what's so wrong. The beds are better than where I slept back home. And the food? Sure, it's not the best, but it's free, and nobody's saying you can't eat as much as you want and restock more often.
[... That's not helping with the thing about Flynn's friend, though, is it?]
... Hey, let's try not to rule anything out. If this place is as messed up as everyone says, maybe one of these days we'll wake up and it'll be summer.
[Not that there's any lack of sarcasm to that response...
I just don't think worrying about what could go wrong is gonna be any help, right now. Make sure you're ready to keep each other safe if things go sideways, yeah, but maybe you'll rest a little better if you tell yourself it's nothing, until then.
[Well, now they're just going in circles. Which would be fine if he could be honest about his answer, but that's not really an option right now.]
It's frustrating. The area I just went through might as well have been a maze. Maybe those maintenance tunnels could use a little more of what they're named after, and lead to some better spots.

He wasn't joking about their being useless.]

[He's definitely gonna read them either way.]

Yeah, it's... Well, it's something.
Maybe the town itself could do with some organizing. Clear away the snow and the scrap piles and all that.

[There's some wordplay here, but...]
I'm fine. Just got kinda tired of carrying those books around, you know? So the sooner I sent em to you, the sooner I could ditch them for somebody else to grab.
What about you? Snow aside, obviously.

Didn't know you were such an optimist.
I am so ready for a freaky surprise summer though?

How about yourself then? How have you been, how's the traveling going?

Anywhere in particular where you're headed? Got your mind set on something to do?
no subject
Yeah, I'm gonna try to stay warm for the next couple days. I'll come up with something else, later.
[... It's not really a lie.]

Sounds good. Enjoy. Hope you find places with hot water along your way.
